"The new reading program is essential in preparing our Club members for academic success. The goal of Project 10k is to sharpen reading skills while cultivating an excitement for reading and learning," said Patrick Wynn, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama.

The Staff and Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama is concerned with reading test scores of our Club members in Madison & Limestone Counties.  Our Club members are being promoted to the next grade level without proper reading skills resulting in below average reading levels.  Since this gap exists, Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama are going to do their part to make sure our Club members are reading at their appropriate grade level.

Project 10K is a Club wide initiative to get our Club members to read 10,000 books by the end of the school year.  This will work in twofolds:  first to improve their reading scores and to get them reading at or above their grade level and second to encourage children in our Clubs to enjoy reading as a leisure time activity.  BGCNAL is using Project 10K to launch, inspire and engage lifelong readers and learners.
